ARC Plant & Civils Training offers Street Works (NRSWA) Operator training for anyone working on or near public highways. This qualification is essential for operatives involved in excavation, reinstatement, and maintenance of roads and footpaths under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

Course Overview
- Accreditation: SQA (Certification and Awarding Body)
- Duration: 5 days (full course) | 1-2 days (reassessment or individual units)
- Location: ARC Training Centre – Pontyclun, South Wales
- Certification: NRSWA Street Works Card (valid for 5 years)
- Assessment: Written and practical tests

Course Content (Operative Units)
Depending on your role, training can include:
- Location & avoidance of underground apparatus (Unit LA)
- Signing, lighting & guarding (Unit O1)
- Excavation in the highway (Unit O2)
- Reinstatement of sub-base & road-base (Unit O3)
- Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials (Unit O4)
- Reinstatement of hot-lay bituminous materials (Unit O5)
- Reinstatement of concrete slabs (Unit O6)
- Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways (Unit O8)
You can train in individual units or complete the full suite of operative units for broad competency.

Entry Requirements
- Minimum age: 18
